I've spent most of the evening tidying up and getting rid of old printouts, newspapers and magazines that were taking up valuable desk real estate.
My desk usually gets loaded with all kinds of things, useful things of course, and does so pretty fast; but the usefulness of these items soon expire.
It's something I really dislike, but I'm never good at remembering to throw things out when I'm done with them, and so they pile up to, well, stacks.
I really would like to be more organized -- living in a state of untidy just adds a lot of unnecessary mental baggage.

The following was written on a sheet of paper last year - and I'm writing it here so that I will be able to throw said sheet out.
Consider this post part "time capsule", part Orwellian "memory hole".

It's unfinished (and a bit naïve) lyrics to the tune of "Let it snow":

"I like beards of all shapes and sizes
and when the temperature rises
there's one thing to do that I know
'Let it grow, let it grow, let it grow...'

So think of all the love, you'll be gettin':
kisses 'n groping 'n sweatin'
let all your bear friends let you know
(how to) let it grow, let it grow, let it grow

because with beards there's just one thing to know
let it grow, let it grow, let it grow..."

Now that sheet of paper goes in the bin, and I'll be one step closer that elusive Zen state of mind. Hooray!
